Car scrapped

El Burro is officially scrapped. Legally, I might add. We’re sitting on a bus going into Rome for a few hours before flying back on a slave galley.

Home wanted for tired game programmers

It’s too early in the morning and only some of us have stirred. Bjorn’s tummy feels a little unsettled after last night’s shell-fish, but Italy would be a little disappointing if it couldn’t wreck at least one stomach. Today we are scrapping the car first thing. them heading into Rome for some speed-sightseeing and them off home tonight. I think we’re all kinda looking forward to it.

Never has so much been paid for so little so slowly

We’ve just been served the slowest meal in the world for the most amount of money ever. It’s a long story, but basically it boils down to the end ceremony sucking a golf ball through a garden hose. But it’s nothing a little beer won’t remedy, he he. So yeah, we’re getting drunk.

It has been completed

We’re sitting in a pub drinking our first and second drinks and feeling hung over and excited about our last night at the same time. It’s over and it’s been good fun. We’ve managed to collect around £4000 to help the fight against MS. There’ll be some more substantial updates when we get home and sleep it over, but for now there’s nothing to do but enjoy the last supper and finish in style.

Home to Rome

Almost in Rome now, just an hour to go. We’re playing 20 questions and sweating in the car while the warm italian winter landscape passes by. Tonight we stay in a sea side town just outside Rome to take part of the home2rome end ceremony. It’s almost done now. ‘I want you to imagine greed in liquid form’ is the silliest thing said all day.

Coming soon to a store near you

A breakthrough for in car entertainment has just been discovered… Imagination-off! The game where you imagine the wackiest thing ever and then proceed to justify its existence, so far we have had the cheese printer, a tree that spans the distance between earth and the moon and a horse the size of a pig. Perhaps its a good thing that were coming home tomorrow.

Ouch

Last night was a proper bender. My eyes look like two wee-holes in snow and i can feel my own pulse like sharp little beats of painful stings. I suspect Rod is worse :-) . So today we’re driving towards Rome, our final destination. We’ll update you as our heads clear.

Venice

We’re on a train towards Venice. Today the car’s been acting strangely, but it still seems in working order. Our break warning light comes on intermittently and it makes funny noises, but we guess that’s to be expected :-) Our plan is to eat tea early in Venice, then head down for tonights stop and some well deserted boozing. You know how it’s gonna go, but we’ll tell you all about it anyway.

On the road… Again

The fantastic views of the french Riviera are now long behind us and we find ourselves driving across the north of italy heading for venice. Its another long driving day spent almost entirely on motorways so we have been playing the a to z game. Anyone know an animal starting with the letter x?

Resuming Transmission

We beat the mountain! Or at least, half of it.

The car has sounded better, but we didn’t lose any important pieces during the rally stages. Just before we headed up, however, there was a bit of a scare when we thought we had lost the entire vehicle in a car park in Monte Carlo. There’s nothing like the sickening sight of an empty space where your car should be. Fortunately, we were just on the wrong floor. ;)

After arriving at the hotel Napoleon in Menton (and a much needed shower) we hit the town for Bjorn’s third successive Fillet de Boef. Apparently it was splendid.

It’s now Sunday morning, and we’re heading out for our third day on the road. Bjorn is pilotting today, with Jim filling the copilot role… It’s off to Italy we go. In the mean time, we’ve finally uploaded some photos, which you can see here:
